Sri Lokmani Lal Ji (1912-1993)

Lokmani Lal was born on 20 December 1912 at Meerut. He lost his parents by the age of five years; his brother Shri Bhikkanlal ji brought him up. He worked hard as a student and also learnt values of truth, goodness, honesty, sincerity, love, sense of duty, humility, faith ample tolerance. His sharp mind quickly perceived that patriotism, freedom from the British rule was the only rapid route to national advancement. Close association with great nationalists like Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya, Mahatma Gandhi, instilled in him the spirit to dedicate his life to the service of the nation. He had completed his graduation from BHU as an engineer. He was the pioneer of cold storage industry in India. He established the first cold storage in Meerut. Afterwards, he setup a chain of storages all over India in Lahore, Farukhabaad, Kolkata, Allahabad. His financial contribution towards setting up the ‘Vigyan Parishad' in the Allahabad University is deep in memory of the scientists and scholars. He contributed generously to establishment of schools in the city. The major task before him was to evolve an education system which would generate not just doctors, engineers professionals, but “cultured creative human beings, well-equipped to play his/her role in the progress of nation.Today Maharshi Patanjali Vidya Mandir,a product of his vision, is doing a great job as A premier educational institution in Allahabad.

Even during his life-time MPVM became an important institution for integrated development of child where the teachers help to blossom the physical, mental, emotional spiritual bud of a child, to make him a fully equipped individual ready to face the challenges of life. At present in our country there are many educational institutions with a foreign outlook, externally attractive, but devoid of any Indian value content. This led to the foundation of Maharshi Patanjali Vidya Mandir in 1986. He was keen to develop forward looking progressive educational institutions. He dreamt of an institution which would promote the study of Sanskrit, Indian culture, Yoga, different branches in engineering.
