Maharshi Patanjali Vidya Mandir celebrates Annual Sports - 2016--------------------------------------------------------------------->>>>>>--------------->>>>>>>>> There was excitement in the air. The collective heart beats of hundreds could be heard. The cheers reached the ears as one stood on Madan Mohahan Malviya Stadium’s field on 03rd of December, 2016 to witness the splendid celebration of Sports Day of Maharshi Patanjali Vidya Mandir, Allahabad. Due to the sudden meeting with the Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav, the Vice Chairman of ADA, Mr. Devendra Kumar Pandey could not attend the meet so through his letter to the Principal he sent his best wishes and blessings to the students. He informed that the Additional Secretary of ADA, Sri Gudakesh Sharma, would grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. The day started off with a divine prayer of lord Ganesha. In her welcome address the Principal, Mrs Sushmita Kanungo expressed her delight to welcome the Chief Guest and the distinguished gathering of members of governing body, parents, teachers and the supporting staff. She appreciated the students who worked tirelessly for so many days to bring laurels to their respective houses. In her words, ‘Sports serve society by providing vivid examples of excellence.’ The fantastic turnout from the parents and the excited gathering of the students turned the foggy weather warm and cozy. The impressive March Past by the five houses namely: Vivekanand, Vashishtha, Vyas, Valmiki and Vishwamitra led by their captains- Aman Sachan, Avinash Vikam Singh, Pragya Singh, Sarvagya Pandey, Archit Mishra respectively, stirred the hearts of the spectators. The houses were led by the Head Boy, Arpit Srivastava & the Head Girl Rupali Srivastava Associate captains – Nishant Dwivedi & Nikita Singh, Vice captains- Madhav Gupta, Shreya Srivastava, Harshita Singh, Jasmine Pal and Akshat Mishra. The meet was declared open by Sri Gudakesh Sharma, after which balloons were released and the flag was hoisted. To enliven the sports event, the torch was lit by the distinguished chief guest. Shibasish Dutta, Shaurya Singh, Vaibhav Sharan & Ananya Dwivedi, the group of the proud Torch Bearers, thrilled the hearts of the spectators with their magnificent run. The students entered into the spirit of the occasion in a grand way with the oath being administered by the Head Girl, Rupali Srivastava. Up next were the marvelous rhythmic drills presented by the students of classes V to VIII. The students in their colorful attires regaled one and all present over there. The drill display ‘Confluence of Culture’ by the students of class V showcased the diversity in cultures from different parts of India while simultaneously highlighting our unity as a human family. Truly, the stars seemed to have descended down from the heaven when the little stars of class VI twinkled and mesmerized the audience with their drill ‘Galaxy of Stars’ on the field in their radiant attire. The students of class VII energized the atmosphere by their drill ‘Vibrant Moods’ while the audience was left speechless after witnessing the exhilarating display of drill ‘Horizon’ by the students of class VIII. 100, 200 and 400m race for both boys and girls of different classes was another exciting experience which displayed the undaunted spirit of competition among students. Once the races began, the air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes. Next pyramids formation by the five houses displayed exemplary precision and daredevil techniques. Parents as well as teachers couldn’t help themselves from enjoying the race and ran with full fun and vigor on the track. Their swift feet measured the track with full enthusiasm. They said that they were reminded of their childhood. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest expressed his happiness to participate in the sports meet and appreciated the marvelous performances of the students. He appreciated for organizing such a fantastic programme and was startled with the inherent potential of the students. He applauded the management for organizing various sports events for the overall development of the students. Expressing her gratitude towards the Chief Guest, the Honorary Secretary Prof. Krishna Gupta appreciated the effort of the Principal, Teachers, PTIs, Volunteers and Students whole-heartedly for making the meet a huge success. Shewas delighted to watch the Synchronize March Past and Drill displays. Emphasizing the importance of Sports and Games she said that team spirit is the most important element of Sports and Games. She cheered the students with her inspiring words and filled the entire Stadium with energy and joyfulness. The Vashishtha House was declared the winner House followed by the Vivekanand House, Vishvamitra House, Valmiki House and Vyas House. The Valmiki House was awarded with the First Prize for their beautiful Drill. It was a mega show which reached to the culmination with the award ceremony where the winners were awarded with medals, certificates and shields by the dignitaries. The vote of thanks was proposed by the Senior Secondary In charge, Mrs. Neerja Singh. The sports meet concluded with the National Anthem after the handing over of the school flag to the Principal by the Sports Captain, Vaibhav Sharan.  The winners in different categories are: Best athlete 1. 7- 8 Boy’s-Darshit of Class VIII 2. 7- 8 Girl’s- Sniya Abbas of class VII 3. 9 -10 Boy’s- Shubham of Class IX 4. 9 - 10 Girl’s-Aishwarya of Class X 5. 11 - 12 Boy’s-Yashavi of Class XII 6. 11 - 12 Girl’s-Sushmita Sur of Class XII
