Maharshi Patanjali Vidya Mandir would be hosting the CBSE Regional Level Debate Competition on 2nd November, 2011 for Classes XI & XII, to commemmorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, our national leader and an able administrator, known for his remarkable probity in public life.

The first round of the Debate which would be hosted by Maharshi Patanjali Vidya Mandir, is the regional round. More than 40 schools of Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand, comprising of about 90 students would be participating. Two winning teams from each region would thereafter participate in the National Debate Competition to be held at Delhi.

For the second consecutive time this year, CBSE has selected MPVM as its venue for hosting such prestigious events at the Regional Level. The event would be graced by some of the eminent educationists of the city. The city coordinator of the event would be Mr Karan Saini from CBSE, under the leadership of Dr Sugandh Sharma of CBSE Delhi.

The topics for the Debate Competition were –
  • Inspite of all the provisions of checks and balances in the constitution, there is a strong need for the Lokpal Bill.
  • The Right to Information Act, 2005 helps to develop a more vibrant democracy.
  • The citizens can prevent corruption in a democracy.
  • Who should be more vigilant – a state or a citizen in a democracy?
