MPVM Organized an Adventure Sports Camp 2018 Maharshi Patanjali Vidya Mandir in collaboration with ‘Adventure Sports Management’ organized a fun filled 2 day residential ‘Nature and Adventure Camp’ in the school premises for the students of class 12 on 26th and 27th November. The purpose of organizing such a camp was to inculcate different life skills and the traits of team building, leadership, better communication, identifying risk factors and finding solutions, decision making, gaining confidence in life and above all rediscovering oneself. The students reported for the camp at 8.00 am on 26th Nov. 2018 with exuberant faces and high spirits. The bright faces were lit up with cheerful grins as the school campus looked extremely beautiful with the colourful tents and the sets created for various games. The inaugural function of the camp was attended by Hon. Secretary Dr. Krishna Gupta, Treasurer Shri Ravindra Gupta and other members of the Governing Body. Dr. Krishna Gupta wished the students good luck and declared the camp open. Before the commencement of the camp the students were told about the rules and regulations of the camp. The camp proved to be highly motivational and provided a plethora of activities which are unlikely to be seen from the normal class-room environment. The camp exposed the campers to a variety of challenging and exciting activities. The 15 activities of the ‘Nature and Adventure Camp’ were Rock Climbing, Rappelling, Valley Crossing, Flying Fox, Rope Walking, Zorbing Football, Commando net climbing, Trampoline, Zorbing, Water Zorbing, Air Gun Shooting, Jumaring, Hot Air Balloon, Camp Fire and Tent Camping. The Hot Air Balloon activity stole the show as a aerial view of the awestruck people gaping at the balloon was an enjoyable treat for the eyes. The camp was duly supervised by the professional instructors from the ‘Adventure Sports Management’ and the team of Senior Teachers of MPVM who guided the campers at every step. These activities aimed at maintaining fitness level and the physical and mental balance of the students. The students were divided into 14 groups who were continuously engaged into various activities simultaneously. The young mpvians gained a new perspective as they got to face different obstacles in the form of activities. At the end of the first day the camp fire not only lighted up the cold evening but also enlightened the hearts when the school in house music team of teachers played popular numbers on which the campers danced around the fire with full vigour inspite of being tired of the whole day activities. The amount of energy and enthusiasm exhibited by the students was enthralling. Apart from building good communication skills, they gained problem solving skills and learnt to respect the fellow team members and their individual contributions. They energetically completed every activity and no task was left undone. Principal Mrs. Sushmita Kanungo who also stayed in the camp along with her team of other teachers equally participated in the various challenging activities and completed them successfully Hon. Secretary Dr. Krishna Gupta also participated in some of the activities of the camp. The members of the camp left vivid and indelible impressions on the mind of the campers as it offered a welcoming, lively, safe, positive and diverse environment where children gained confidence and build their self-esteem and helped them to strengthen their confidence of personal accomplishment. In the closing ceremony, students shared their experiences in a short session ‘Impressions’. Mr. Sanjay Kumar the team leader of the ‘Nature and Adventure Camp’ appreciated the participation spirit, the discipline and culture of the school. Mrs. Sushmita Kanungo, Principal MPVM, not only enthused the children with her motivating words but also provided valuable tips of life which energized them and gave them a food for thought.
