DM Inaugurates Mural Art Gallery at MPVM
Maharshi Patanjali Vidya Mandir has been the proud host to a unique art exhibition showcasing the creatively of the students and their concern for the environment. Under the Annual Theme for the year 2016 at MPVM, ‘Preserve with Pride’, the art exhibition has been titled as ‘Prarambh ….. A Beginning’. The present era is an era of duty where we cannot neglect our responsibility towards the protection of the environment. The exhibition aimed to promote this awareness in the society. The leading theme of today’s exhibition was preservation of the bird sparrow. An erstwhile familiar household bird, the sparrow, is today facing extinction due to human engineered disasters and the MPVM artists have tried to bring to life in pastel shades the chinpy little birds.
The chief guest for the exhibition was the District Magistrate of Allahabad Shri Sanjay Kumar, also a noted environmentalist who has authored several books on environment and the bind sparrow. The Chief Guest was given the guard of honour by the NCC students. His first visit was to the temple within the school which exhibited colourful pots painted by the students of the middle school. Following the lighting of the lamp to the accompaniment of Saraswati Vandana by the school choir, the District Magistrate proceeded to inaugurate the chief event of the day - The Mural Art Gallery. Under the ‘Preserve with Pride’ theme the art exhibition depicted about 500 painting by the students. The aim of the exhibition was to promote the mural art form which is one of the ancient art forms of the country. The paintings brought a revival of the traditional Indian art form including Tribal Art, Madhuvani Art while some of the creations captured modern Indian art styles. Consistent with the theme, the science exhibits of working and non-working models were also based on finding viable solutions to environmental problems and finding alternative cost effective solutions. The third wing of the extensive exhibition displayed the handicraft of the women of Mahila Swavalamban Prashikshan Kendra – a vocational training centre for the less privileged women; as well as the craftswork of the students belonging of Patanjali Sarva Shiksha Prarambhik Vidyalaya Teliarganj – evening school run for the children of the economically weaker section of the society.
The Principal of MPVM Smt. Sushmita Kanungo accorded a warm welcome to the Chief Guest. She introduced him to the students as a successful professional, nature lover, a photographer, and a writer. She expressed her gratitude for sparing his time to share his thoughts with the students.
The Chief Guest had a prolonged session with the students were he spoke on a wide spectrum of things touching the lives and career choices of the students. He expressed his desire to educate and involve students in important social issues. He reminded the students that the foundation of the personality began at the school and appreciated the teachers of the MPVM for providing excellent support. He appreciated the role of the teachers as a guide not only to students but also to the parents. He urged the students to understand their aims and interests and keep their dreams firmly before their parents. No career is less important but the students must have clarity of thoughts before chasing their dreams. Challenges and failures must not deter them from their goals. Slackness in work, is not desirable because after class 9, the next 4-5 years are crucial in carving out a students career. He also made the students realize the importances of being good human being. He wished the students to support poor children and requested the school management to take the students out to government school to interact with the slum children. He also encouraged the students to clean the school and their neighborhood and actively take part in making their surrounding green. He ended his speech with the hope the school would bring out good ambassadors of the society.
Prof. Krishna Gupta Hony. Secretary of MPVM Samiti praised the effort of the students and thanked the Chief Guest for visiting to the school. She told the students to reflect on what was said by the Chief Guest, make him an example and be committed to their work. She promised that the school would take up tree plantation in a great way and also help to preserve with pride not only the environment the cultural heritage of the world.
