MPVM Endorses Swaraj on I – Day 2016---------->>
Independence Day was celebrated on a high patriotic note at MPVM. The I-Day saw the beautiful culmination of a week long Swaraj celebration. During the Swaraj Week which was celebrated from 9th of August to 15th of August, patriotic thoughts, patriotic speeches, songs, group discussions, street plays and posters were prepared and presented. The school throbbed with activity, with the spirit of Nationalism and reverberated with the ideal of Swaraj.
The 70th Independence Day dawned with the heavenly showers of the monsoon uniting the sky and the Earth at Allahabad in one pare strain of unity. Refreshing the spirits of the students, the memories of the elders, the entire school campus was active with patriotic songs till the arrival of the Chief Guest.
The programme began with the lighting of the Lamp accompanied by Shlok chanting by Anusha Anurag.
The Chief Guest was welcomed in style by the NCC students of the school. The Guard of Honour was followed by the unfurling of the National Flag to the full – throated singing of the National Anthem. The Chief Guest was accompanied by the Principal Mrs. Sushmita Kanungo for the Inspection of Parade. The Principal giving a warm welcome expressed her happiness to have Prof. Krishna Gupta as a Chief Guest. Addressing the students and the teachers, the Principal asked the meaning of ‘Azadi’. She asked whether Azadi was over with the Independence of the country, was it fighting for rights or was it the upholding of our duties. She also asked whether patriotism be limited only to our soldiers or for just the Independence day. She said that we need to make the feeling of freedom more relevant for the Indian society.
The cultural programme included a beautiful Group song “Akhandata Pranaam” and the presentation of a Street Play ‘Aao chalo kuch accha karte hain’ by the students of Class X.
The Chief Guest in her address tried to inculcate the feeling of unity. In her speech she reminded the sacrifices of our freedom fighters due to which we can claim today to be the independent citizens of our beautiful India. She elaborated the real meaning of Azadi and said that the need for the Swaraj Mahotsav is to inculcate the feeling of true responsibility towards ourselves. Swaraj means eliminating our weaknesses, having control over ourselves and serving our nation responsibly. She urged the students to resolve to get rid of their deficiencies and make our country known for its unity and oneness.
The celebrations came to a close with the vote of thanks and singing of the Vande Mataram followed by the distribution of refreshments to the students.
