Maharshi Patanjali Vidya Mandir celebrated 70th Republic Day with pride and patriotism.
The arrival of the Chief Guest Sri Rajesh Kumar, Retired Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court along with the Secretary of the school Prof. Krishna Gupta graced the occasion.
The NCC cadets gave the guard of honour and escorted the dignitaries to the Temple area to light the lamp. This was followed by hoisting of the Tricolor, the pride of our nation, by the Honourable Chief Guest and the National Anthem reverberated in the hearts filling everyone with the feeling of nationalism.
The programme commenced with March Past of all the five houses who paid befitting Honour to the Tricolor by saluting it to show their commitment to the nation. Prof. Krishna Gupta extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. She praised the Chief Guest for his prominent role in serving the society and further mentioned that this Republic Day is more special in Prayagraj because it is also celebrating the ‘Pious Kumbh’. She extended her gratitude to all those who sacrificed themselves for the nation. She mentioned that educating each and every child and empowering women are the only ways to pave the path of progress.
“Koti Koti Kanthon Ne Gaya …” was a wonderful patriotic song presented by the school choir which presented and recalled the very glorious past of our motherland. The synergized children of classes I & II in their vibrant attire brought forward an action song “Ek Tera Naam Hai Sacha”. Poetry has always been one of the best ways to give expression to thoughts so the children presented a well woven ‘Kavya Goshthi’ on the theme of patriotism and their poetic excellence won everyone’s applause. Thereafter the girls of the secondary section made a dynamic presentation of self-defence conveying the message that they are no more an inferior and weak section of the society but a powerful part of the nation.
An energetic action song ‘Ai Vatan Aabad Rahe Tu …’ was presented by the children of Patanjali Sarva Shiksha Prarambhik Vidyalaya, which is working to bring forward the underprivileged section of the society, by providing free education. Their presentation made us remember the golden heritage of our country and made everyone feel proud to be a part of India.
Few of the members among the rising and empowering women of ‘Mahila Sawavalamban Prashishan Kendra, another initiation by MPVM for strengthening the underprivileged women of the society, presented their thought provoking views on the need to bring a change to carve a better future.
The Chief Guest addressed the children by appreciating the school and its excellence. He talked about how the constitution came to force on 26th January 1950 and enlightened the students by discussing few articles of the constitution like Article 51 and 21. He urged the students to contribute in the campaign Clean India and focused on the present education system which should include Patriotism in its syllabus.
The Chief Guest, other dignitaries and the whole school was visibly impressed by the brilliance and the spontaneity of the thought provoking performances of children.
Concluding the programme by giving the Vote of Thanks, the Principal of the school Mrs. Sushmita Kanungo, a truly pioneering figure, congratulated the students for their crisp and spectacular performances. She thanked the Chief Guest for taking out his precious time to witness the programme and encourage the students. She also thanked Hony. Secretary Prof. Krishna Gupta for her benign presence and other dignitaries too for their graceful presence. She mentioned that the information provided by the Chief Guest where he spoke about the need to inculcate sense of belongingness and patriotism among the students was really praiseworthy. She even appreciated his idea of making changes in the education policy and the need for the students to be self-reliant. The Principal focused on the importance of the date 26th January as on this very day in the year 1930, India had celebrated its first Independence Day, so the date of 26th January was chosen as our Republic Day in 1950.
The whole school was energized and filled with the feeling of patriotism and nationalism. The celebration ended with the National song and the students dispersed after getting their refreshments.
